I’m never late, and I’m usually an early bird. I’ve learned to accept my personality. This morning, I’m at Amtrak 40 minutes early—not just because I have to but because I get to.

Yes, traveling. It’s not as enjoyable as when I’m in control, a passenger with a purpose and a plan. I’m headed south for a few days. There’s another hurricane in the Gulf. Sigh. Oh, well.

I’m sitting at the train station enjoying the coolness. Outside. On a park bench. The sun is blindingly coming over the roofline. It feels like the world is awakening.

My bride just dropped me off. I’ll return home late Friday evening.

Pausing in the morning coolness… It’s 46 degrees. The crows are cawing, and some road noise is disturbing, but the early mist and morning please me just fine.

It’ll all be ok. Soak up the moment. Carry the peace with you.
