Pace yourself. Don’t over do it. Stay in control. Be constantly aware. Defensive Driving. Watch out for the other driver.
Until something surprises you, of course.
Then, all bets are off. Anything goes. Nothing is safe. Ditch Dive!
Okay. I’ve driven on icy roads too fast. You are not in control and anything goes. That I understand. Despite my comfort zone, do you know what suprises me the most?
The Unexpected.

Ok. I’m not this easily startled. I expect the unexpected.
Usually.
This morning, there was a loud clap of thunder as I was setting down my cereal. Where’s the mop? I did not expect it, was not prepared for it, and I reacted normally.
It was like a roaring Blue Angel coming from behind the audience while everyone is watching the precession flying team out front!
It’s like that thought that comes out of the blue. A temptation that crawls from under a rock. An unsavory reaction to an innocent moment.
What should you do!
This is a personal approach. I refuse to be surprised by the unknowable. Control my response. Take charge of my action. Don’t let my mind let loose with words I cannot take back.
In other words, “Take control of the unexpected.”
Paul tells us to “…bring every thought into captivity…”. (2 Corinthian 10:5) How? What does that mean?
You know what it means.
Every time I think a thought, I shouldn’t think. Capture it!
When the thinking gets loose and goosey, control it. How? capture it!
When you mind takes you down dark places, slap the brakes on and stop it!
Paul is describing self-control.
You may think you acquiese all your thoughts to the Holy Spirit, but truly, you are in charge of what you spend your time on. You are what you think, because your thoughts lead you forward.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
Philippians 4:8-9 KJV
Watch out. You are often your worst when you cannot control you self!
Watch Out! Your response says much about you!
