Just Enough

Just Enough

Just enough to count it as a win,
But not too much that I have to give my all.

Just enough to identify with,
But let me stay the way I want to be.

Just enough a worker to earn a paycheck,
But no over commitment here – I have a life to live.

Just enough, barely scrape by,
Just enough to know the basic formula, that’s all.
Just enough Victory to let me join the parade.
Just enough Faith, but don’t require too much. I may have to change.
Just enough Love, but let me choose who and how much.
Just enough Mercy, oh, but let me be the judge.

Just enough…is that really what you want?

We often want to belong, or to be in a limelight,
But we seldom want to give it our all.
That requires change, being different,
And that’s something we’re not sold on. I’m me.

But when it comes to wealth, glamor, or fame,
We want it all. Yes. More than enough to get by.
In the center of the stage! Lauded! Bragged on.
That’s when we see the value of “all in.”

This morning, as I was perusing in the dark,
I thought about all the things we do to keep ourselves at arms-length.
Show up when we want to, and not when others are in need.
Be part of the party, even limelight, but bring nothing for others to share.

Stand in a court, and yes, there is one coming that’s scary.
My verdict? Well done! or Depart!
The only two documented answers to our life.
I bet your mind will change in a flash.
You will wish then that you had more than enough.

Song of my youth, cry of my heart today.

Take this whole world, but give me Jesus.
Take this whole world, but give me Jesus.
Take this whole world, but give me Jesus.
No turning back. No turning back.

So then, my friends, because of God’s great mercy to us I appeal to you:
Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God,
dedicated to his service and pleasing to him.
This is the true worship that you should offer.
Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world,
but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind.
Then you will be able to know the will of God—what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect.
