I’ve heard it said by someone who felt the stress
Of pain and age that left them without a breath
In their struggle they ask, “Can all be fine?”
The power of the moment drains them.
I hear. Please, don’t leave me alone.
Like fighting against the rip tide
We are taught, and I’ve learned,
In panic you must let go, ride the tide.
Eventually, let lose, now, look to the shore.
It’s Close. You are not left alone.
When the world seems still,
My mind races through the corners
And suddenly I wish for the strength
To call a halt to the rapid pace
I need help. Always. Don’t leave me alone.
From struggles hard, and the fight back is faint,
I know we are not good at standing alone.
We need each other, no matter what one may say,
To be there in the gap. It exists.
Please. Don’t leave me alone.
And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place;
and behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and He said to him,
“What are you doing here, Elijah?”
So he said, “I have been very zealous for the LORD God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken
Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword.
I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.”
Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD.”
And behold, the LORD passed by,
and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD,
but the LORD was not in the wind;
and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake;
and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire;
and after the fire a still small voice.
