It’s yesterday, or at least when I started this posting. A good conversation yesterday, now the day before, caused me to pause and consider. An Ah-Ha moment? Perhaps. Or the slowly creeping realization I’ve refused to face, but now I do.
It’s not a new thought. But 50 years of marriage next week does make you reconsider where you are and why you’re doing what you are handling. Slow Down? Not on your life! Revamp? Perhaps. Make a change? That’s always in order.
“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.”
~Walt Disney
I realized something very important this week and will write about it for the next several days. Why? It’s important to me. Who knows, maybe someone else needs to hear this, too.
Perhaps I’m not the right person for where I am,
and it’s time for someone or something new
to pick up where the old me left off.
Pick it up, put it down, get up, and move!,
Or, at the very least,
I need to change!
Age has a way of doing that, you know.
You’ve tried to keep the energy going
But the reality is you are slowing down
And you barely notice it.
If ever there is a year to change,
It might as well be today.
So, start the creeping process,
Or make it lightning-fast.
Change is what I’m all about!
Change is good when it makes improvements. Change, for change’s sake, is not what I’m thinking about. Reality tells me some changes are needed and good, but I realize not all changes will suit me. My focus is to keep my focus. I want to become better, but I know my limits. Can limits change? With enough willpower, you can change the world!
The Greek philosopher and mathematician Archimedes said, “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world.” That was 300 B.C…. How much he could imagine from so little a perspective tells me that imagination always helps me see my influence.
What could I change if I put my mind, will, body, soul, and focus into the mix? God knows. But I don’t want to do so without Him, so I pray, pause, and start changing!
Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning,
For in You do I trust;
Cause me to know the way in which I should walk,
For I lift up my soul to You. …
Teach me to do Your will,
For You are my God;
Your Spirit is good.
Lead me in the land of uprightness.
(Psalms 143:8-10 NKJV)
