Okay. It’s not a song in the truest sense.
I did not think of melodies or tunes.
But I woke up at 5:30 a.m. thinking…
It’s Monday, and it’s going to be a great day!
I was chipper as I made my coffee and cereal.
Nothing negative on my mind to ruin the day.
It was 47 degrees, and it would only get to 69.
I mean, how much hotter do you need it?
Not to mess around with your day or thinking,
The only way this Monday would be better?
Drop the temperature about 20 degrees.
Add Snow. And a brisk wind to make me happy!
I thought about the morning.
Monday. It’s going to be a good day!
Then, I thought about song titles.
Memorable songs about days of the week
But not always with the best messaging.
Sunday morning, sidewalks wrote Kris, and Johnny sang.
Wishing they were stoned. And I thought it was sad.
But in my mind, their salvation came when they paused
Realizing the beauty of the morning. Kids in the park,
And a Sunday School was singing loud enough to be heard outside.
Then I thought of Chicago singing Saturday In the Park…
They thought it was the fourth of July.
That makes me think of fireworks and heat…
In this hemisphere? That means Hot!
Karen sang. Rainy days and Mondays always get her down.
But I love rainy days, and I’m enjoying this Monday!
Other than the tune, I’m not sure this is a positive message.
At least, one would say, stay away from Rain and Monday!
I pause in my spiel to think.
There’s not a single day of the week I despise.
Each has a beauty and necessary existence.
You start somewhere and end at another place,
Just take them as they come and live for the next day.
So, I proudly enjoy the day. Come what may.
I’ve been through the downtimes.
And not everything comes up roses.
But this is the day the Lord has made!
I will rejoice and be glad in it! (Psalms 118:24)
