Morning bustles seldom happen
Kidless, no jobs to go to, and
Other than the dogs, no animals making noises.
There’s something I enjoy about quiet.
Early morning, the sun is shining,
I sit quietly and peruse my morning routine
Lite breakfast, always with coffee
My phone for the things that I read
It’s like the end of days
No noise is good news
Just patiently awaiting the start of the engines
My mind is made up; it’ll be the quiet I’m wishing for
As the day cranks up and zooms.
My mind goes to the alone times of Jesus
Or David watching over his sheep
Or the quiet tables of writing out a message.
How the Lord must enjoy the quiet!
Do not let your adornment be merely outward—
arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel—
rather let it be the hidden person of the heart,
with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit,
which is very precious in the sight of God.
