Not everything we think we should,
Ought to be done because we could.
Everything we think
Doesn’t require the uttered sound.
Formulas tell us the answers,
Tried and true, they work.
Faulty input, misapplied logic,
And the answers can not be trusted.
Often, good senses lead us to trust,
What we choose to say or think,
But we seldom have a formula to help answer,
Is this where we should spend our time?
“Before you speak, ask yourself if what you are going to say is true, kind, necessary, or helpful. If the answer is no, maybe what you are about to say should be left unsaid.” ~Brad Meltzer
Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
~International Rotary
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
(Philippians 4:8-9 NKJV)
