It's Time To Pray

If you think prayer is about getting answers,
then perhaps this title isn’t true for you.
If you think prayer is about conversing with God?
Even a one-sided conversation gets the job done!

I was thinking about the purpose, power, and process of prayer. It’s not about begging, petitioning, or promising. Nope. (I use “Nope” with a memory of a granddaughter!)

Prayer, in its purest sense, is about talking to God.
Prayer, in its directness of results, is about listening to God.
Prayer is always two-sided, even if one side seems distant.
Prayer, no matter what you think about it…
Always. Works.

Imagine those first humans, alone in the Garden of Eden, and they know they’ve done wrong. What do you do? Their conversations with God had been about purpose, but God knew there was trouble, so He came to visit them.

And they heard the sound of the LORD God
walking in the garden in the cool of the day,
and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God
among the trees of the garden.
Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him,
“Where are you?”
(Genesis 3:8-9 NKJV)

Prayer is more about getting me into the position and character of God. How does that old song go? “To be like Jesus. To be like Jesus. On earth, I long to be like Him…”

Sometimes, prayer begins with you.
Sometimes, prayer begins with God.
Regardless of the starting point,
Prayer always works.
