Idle hands. Whoa! Who’s Workshop Is This?
Idle minds. Not sure if this is daydreaming!
Both are a potential waste of glorious ability.
Tinkering and Thinking. Doing Nothing.
I have a brother who tinkers with perfection.
I have a brother whose mind is full of knowledge and wisdom.
I don’t know their minds, nor how they work,
But I know my mind never stops, even when my motion pauses.
Driving down the road, no need for entertainment,
My mind gives me plenty of surroundings to think about.
If life’s a-twirling, then it’s resolving the crisis.
But if life is peaceful, it’s considering around the bend
And over the mountain, “I wonder what it’s like there?”
Before you know it? Watch out!
That thought became my adventure.
I’ve solved many of life’s issues,
And even outlined a sermon series,
While driving the road or working with my tractor.
It’s something about “going somewhere.”
That my mind handles everything. Often with success.
“The trouble with most people is that they think
with their hopes or fears or wishes rather than with their minds.” ~Will Durant
I woke this morning, or so I thought,
With a blank slate from which to write my thoughts.
Within microseconds, the mind began to work.
I share this often, but there’s something about
Having a working thought to deal with.
Success is not only found in doing or having,
But controlling the mind to think it through,
From here to there, then to now, and into the future.
A thought from a movie line demands my intention,
“From infinity and beyond!” Limitless possibilities!
Give me my thinking time… Think. Thimk.
Analyze. Resolve. Enjoy success. Then move on.
There’s always another thought.
Picking up where this one left off…
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
(2 Corinthians 10:4-6 NKJV)
