Surgery issues are winding down,
My church stepped up and handled everything without me,
Teaching. Preaching. Leading. Loving.
And doing a really good job despite me not being there.
That’s a richness you cannot buy. Thank you!
A special Mother’s Day has transpired,
I finally chatted with Mom,
And this valuable thought came my way.
Let me share. I hope you read it the way I did.
I’m counting my blessings.
They’re not pennies, or dollars, or accounts at the bank.
These blessings show up in everything I can imagine.
My family is in Texas, Oregon, Kentucky, and who knows where else.
The seeds we sow produce great results.
Though some fall on the wayside,
In the rocks, the briars, and yes, on the Good Ground…
To get to the Good Ground, you have to prepare it well.
It’s not where you are by accident.
It takes hard work and, oftentimes times, years in the making.
For that’s where our Blessings spring up and Riches are found.
Our connections stretch across the miles…
And definitely, through the years,
It’s what you do today that shows up way out there.
Blessings. Everyone. You helped them show up.
If my God and my family are not the foundation of my blessing…
Then it’s certain that nothing else is.
Hmmm. An old song comes to mind.
Count your blessings.
Name them. One. By. One.
Count your blessings.
See what God has done…
Remember it?
Sing the last few words with me.
Count your blessings.
Name them one by one.
Count your many blessings.
See what God has done.
Now. The way I like to do things is like this.
God blessed me with a word to write about every day.
For several years, I’ve tried to keep this going.
Some days? It’s harder. I must pause and listen closely.
But most days? God keeps showing up! Oftentimes, very loudly!
Today. The word is Blessing…
So, I dig through God’s Word.
He never fails to focus my attention.
Today… He pointed me to this excerpt.
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.
The king shall have joy in Your strength, O LORD;
And in Your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
You have given him his heart’s desire,
And have not withheld the request of his lips.
Selah [Think on this!]
For You meet him with the blessings of goodness;
You set a crown of pure gold upon his head.
He asked life from You, and You gave it to him—
Length of days forever and ever.
His glory is great in Your salvation;
Honor and majesty You have placed upon him.
For You have made him most blessed forever;
You have made him exceedingly glad with Your presence.
For the king trusts in the LORD,
And through the mercy of the Most High he shall not be moved.
(Psalms 21:1-7 NKJV)
