Old way of doing work - pen, ink, paper, satchel, alarm clock
Lazy Approach?

Some mornings are rushed, no extra time
To spin the mind and clear the cobwebs
Let them linger? The day remains unproductive
So I strive to burn and go…

I love to take my mornings slow.
It’s a habit developed over many years.
If there’s a task that needs doing,
Get up earlier, for its sake. Just don’t change
The routine I’ve grown fond of.

This morning, I am tempted to let AI think for me. I could throw it a word, provide some instructions, and sit back astounded that it can develop the framework of an idea so easily—quickly.

As I write, Grammarly corrects my thoughts and words. It’s simply AI challenging my sentences and telling me a better way to say what I want to say. It doesn’t always work. Sometimes, I have to say, “Dismiss.” AI doesn’t deal with vernacular very well. It’s structured. It is almost like a writing assignment from my younger years when the teacher says, “You must do it this way.” Today? AI rewrites the sentence and asks for my agreement. It will streamline the thought, keeping the tense, punctuation, and grammatical approach correct. It takes me out of passive writing and shows me active writing.

The one thing about AI? It knows what it wants! I could undo 65+ years of speaking and writing and do a better job, or just let AI help me do it better.

Here’s my thought, and there’s no easy way to say it. I have to think about this thought naturally from my mind and thoughts. AI has no answer. It cannot read my mind! I may improve the flow, but what you read is what I want to say.

AI can’t tell the Lord my mind’s thoughts and create a prayer for me. It may help me clarify my thoughts, but if I’m going to pray, it needs to be “me” talking to God.

Nor can AI make the right decisions as I plan my life. I’m always in control of my thoughts and plans, even when wrong. It’s my choice.

I may have wise counsel to point me in the better direction, but it’s still me being in charge of myself that ends up paying the price for poor choices and rejoicing in victory for the better-chosen path.

But I want to choose better. So, I go to the one who made the one who created AI.

I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel;
My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.
I have set the LORD always before me;
Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will rest in hope.
(Psalms 16:7-9 NKJV)

“The longer I live,
the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.
Attitude, to me, is more important than facts.
It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes,
than what other people think or say or do.
It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill.
It will make or break a company…a church….a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.
We cannot change our past…we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way.
We cannot change the inevitable.
The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude…
I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.
And so it is with you…we are in charge of our attitudes.”
