Log Cabin In the Woods
Home, There’s No Place Like It

Foot in the door, breath a sigh of relief.
Click those ruby slippers, and feel release.
There’s no place like home. Agree? Dorothy?
Even when imperfect, I say, Yes. I’m home.

We find that a restful vacation is necessary. It’s hard to do a staycation because much needs to be done.

So, we escape and hope it’s the right time at the right place.

The best place? Mountains, as in higher altitude with beautiful peaks. No schedule to keep. Cold, for it’s easier to sleep. Solitary time, away from the crowd. Sleep when you want, and how ever much it takes.

I’m sure other things are important, but these are the baselines of necessity.

After awhile, your rest bank is restored, you look for something to do. Sightsee. Eat. Soak it up. Make memories. Enjoy each other. Rekindle. Restore. Renew. Redo.

On a cruise, the only one we’ve been on, a room with a balcony allowed us to vegetate away from others in between ports. We sat outside gazing at the passing landscape (seascape) and went out only to stroll or dine.

Vacations are not meant to be perfect. Go with the flow else you’ll remember the bad and not the good.

Some travel so they can be busy enjoying the destination. Go! Do! Go! Sounds like a Dr. Seuss book. If that’s what you need, don’t listen to me! A long drive can be the best fun if you are a vacationer like me. Stops along the way, and at the end of the day. You know when you need it, not necessarily the reason why.

Sometimes, the reason we go is to remember why we love home. Friends. Family. Familiarity. Routine. Investment. Doctors we know (just saying.)

Remember one important thing.
Vacation is not perfect, nor is home.
They both have a purpose.
All I know, though I love to go
There’s no place like Home.
Travel far, wide, and as often as you need.
Only, come back home. Yes.
Missed and loved you are to me.

Thank you for reading.
