Note: I am on vacation at a restful place. I felt the words flow from various inputs. I realized it was what I needed. Not to think of it more than I should, I felt the need to share. Write. Teach. Preach. Share. That’s what I do.
Oh, the burdens we place on our beasts
For things, they were never meant to be.
If they could speak, moan, and complain,
Would we treat them ever so kinder?
Someone taught a lesson about Prayer being our Beast of Burden.
When we need it the most, we use it less.
When it can do more, we depend on it less.
Yes, it’s free, but we would much rather pay for something not as good.
What if we availed ourselves of all God has to offer,
Instead of settling for what we think is better?
You will never be able to be your best,
Until you carry your load to Him.
This is not only for the prodigal or wayward.
The wanderer, forgetful, or forlorn.
It’s for the person who feels lost after a victory.
It’s something needful for the distracted.
It’s something for me. Maybe it’s for you.
I entreated Your favor with my whole heart;
Be merciful to me according to Your word.
I thought about my ways,
And turned my feet to Your testimonies.
I made haste and did not delay
To keep Your commandments.
The cords of the wicked have bound me,
But I have not forgotten Your law.
Psalms 119:58-61 NKJV
What came to me in the middle of this rest…
We’ve settled for far less than we should.
Our contentment is outside of God’s plan.
The sad thing? We are satisfied without God.
Maybe we need to look to the end,
And consider our destination.
Perhaps we need to rethink the plan
To stay more focused on God.
We are our own worst enemy.
We are the wicked who waste our time with the world.
Our attention chooses one over the other.
The world. Or God.
Walk prudently when you go to the house of God;
and draw near to hear rather than to give the sacrifice of fools,
for they do not know that they do evil.
Do not be rash with your mouth,
And let not your heart utter anything hastily before God.
For God is in heaven, and you on earth;
Therefore let your words be few.
(Ecclesiastes 5:1-2 NKJV)
“For My people have committed two evils:
(1) They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters,
(2) And hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water.
(Jeremiah 2:13 NKJV)
We do not rest upon the successes of our past.
“As sure as time, history is repeating itself,
and as sure as man is man,
history is the last place he’ll look for his lessons.”
~Harper Lee
I heard today, “The best teller of the future is the past.”
If you always do what you’ve always done
You’ll always get what you’ve always gotten.
Surely, we can do better than in the past.
We constantly choose wrong…
We can choose better. Each day we live.
It takes a conscious choice.
Think it through. Pray it through. Praise through it.
AI ChatGpt Poem about a Beast of Burden Edited by Me:
In pastures green where shadows dwell,
There trots a beast, a tale to tell,
With a burdened back and weary stride,
Through fields where dreams and sorrows bide.
Its coat, a cloak of dust and grime,
Yet, eyes that gleam with ancient times,
Each step is a rhythm, tried and true,
A silent symphony, it stirs anew.
Through meadows vast, where wildflowers bloom,
It carries weight yet bears no gloom,
For in its heart, a quiet grace,
It finds its purpose at every pace.
Through valleys deep and mountains high,
Beneath the vast and endless sky,
It plods along, a steady force,
A creature bound to life’s own course.
Oh, beast of burden, noble and true,
Your strength, a testament to what you do,
In the journey’s tale, you carry on,
For in your path, our hopes are drawn.
