Another day of needful rest. The night felt short, but it was long enough, I guess, to garner the hours needed to be my best. Yes. This is the morning of an hour lost.
I saw a list of items we have kept from antiquity. In other words, invented long ago, “it” has survived to today’s needs.
Of the eleven noted, these four are of special note to me.
- Paper.
- Alarm Clock (invented by Plato in 400 BC.)
- Maps. (Anaximander, 610 BC.),
- Indoor Plumbing (Egyptians, 2,000 BC).
We take each for granted until they are not available. Panicked and frantic we search until we find. Then we sigh a relief. I’m glad for each.
Just Another Day.
Sitting in a vacation rental, I’m thankful for the four elements identified by many of the Greek Philosphers from the era’s mentioned previously.
- Earth
- Water
- Air
- Fire
Solid ground, life sustaining fluid, life giving gas, and that which cooks, warms and helps in manufacturing.
Just Another Day.
Technology drives our modern times. I suspect, in one form or another, it has always existed and will continue to change. Will it be better? Perhaps. It will be different.
I remember dial-up-modems in 1978 or so. I could drive to work, fix the problem, and be home in bed before the Texas Instrument Silent 700 finished listing out the problem on the thermal paper with a 300 BAUD modem occupying my telephone.
Today. We work from just about anywhere with computers that are lightening fast, no matter how molasses slow we sometimes think they are.
I remember thinking, back in 1997 or so (??), how we would never find safety in WIFI, and today? I can’t live with out it!
Just Another Day
This morning I jump started my day with normal routine using everything mentioned up to this point. It’s just another day of enjoying life as we have it, but it’s not my life until I focus on my Spiritual Disciplines.
Pray. Read the Word. Devotion. Think and Meditate. Write. Be thankful. Amen.
It’s not just another day. I’m thankful. For this day. And for all those yet to come.
“in everything give thanks;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
(1 Thessalonians 5:18, NKJV)
