This Past Year taught me much,
But to learn, I had to go through
The struggles of up and down,
Not sure where I will land.
But taught, it did. Learn, I tried.
So, I yell goodbye to the year
That I thought would be different
And boy, was it different.
I whisper in this new year.
Not with timidity or frailty
But unsure what it holds in store
For me and mine… I may whisper a lot more.
Why whisper? I don’t know.
It’s harder to hear, and so maybe you should listen more.
Or perhaps I’m saving my voice
The next year is a hurdle come 2025.
Why shout? I’m sure it’s for joy!
Victory! Triumph! We won!
But I also know a shouting voice
Confuses the enemy of my soul.
There are times to whisper
And further times of shouting
But the one thing I want to make sure
I whisper and shout for the right reasons.
A Psalm of Thanksgiving.
Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands!
Serve the LORD with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the LORD, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.
(Psalms 100:1-5 NKJV)
