While reading my morning routine, an old song came to mind, and I wondered about the fact of our celebration this weekend, specifically about Mary and the approaching delivery. Think about it. A young woman (girl) without the benefit of her family surrounding her, she’s facing the birth of Life. Scared? Probably. Unsure? Perhaps.
What would you do? I would Pray.
Pray When You Don’t Know What To Do
As we slip into winter
Remember, we are approaching summer
One day, hour, minute, and second at a time.
As we approach our remembrance of His birth,
Ponder the young mother’s predicament.
It was a scary and unsure time.
As we would have then, let’s not forget we all have needs now.
Today, someone is celebrating the life of a family member,
while another is welcoming a new life into theirs.
Around the World,
Many are suffering out of sight, out of mind.
Yes, even as close as some in our backyard.
Remember, circumstances tear families apart,
and prayer support is needed.
Doctors diagnose and order tests,
and we struggle with a new reality.
Please take it to the Healer
He was wounded for us.
Prayer is talking about the needs,
With the only One who has answers.
We don’t need the names or circumstances to pray.
He knows. Trust Him. That’s why we pray.
Pray for yourself, your situation,
Your church, your nation, and your elected leaders.
Let your prayers be more than just a narrow focus.
Pray for all.
Through it all, pray.
In spite of it all, pray.
Never let prayer go silent.
Teach it. Be the example. Pray.
When prayer is finally done,
Give thanks to the Holy One.
Give thanks for what He has done.
Thanks.
Much could be said about our faith…
Trusting in Him,
Strengthening our unbelief to power believing.
And show how we persevere in the face of obstacles.
It’s from here to the end,
We stretch ourselves to live.
Not giving in, or up, or turning back.
Prayer is the glue that holds me together.
When you don’t know what to do, do nothing until you’ve prayed.
I think this is the lesson from Mary. She prayed. Gave thanks. Trusted. Believed.
