What one thing do you want that drives you to keep pounding lifes pavement of daily focus?
Off the cuff, I could name a few, but if at my current stage of life, I could focus on one, I would spend a few days thinking it through.
Priority? Necessary? Wished or dreamed of? Or is it something I’ve wanted/needed for decades and never achieved? Could it be something I’ve never thought of before, or is it a long time goal I’ve never achieved?
The key?
You can’t “start over.”
It must be something that helps you from this point forward.
I’m 31 years from being 100.
That’s right. I’m not the man I was 50 years ago. What do I do? Narrow my focus. What one thing do I want at this age that will make sense in my current range of life.?
Now, weed through your list again.
Does anything stick out?
If you want it bad enough, is it sensible to make it your priority?
That depends on you.
I’ve found that reaching a stage of life what I thought necessary or important are no longer a priority.
We change as life proceeds.
Is that important? Sure. Think of things you’ve pursued and wins you’ve garnered. Don’t forget those near wins or quick losses. Has the pursuit of them given you the satisfaction you thought they would? For a little while, perhaps, but did that accomplished feeling stay with you?
Today, and for the next few mindless days, I’m considering my window of opportunity to work on my next focused season to get the one thing I truly want.
Philippians 3:13-14 NKJV
“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended;
but one thing I do,
forgetting those things which are behind
and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,
I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call
of God in Christ Jesus.”
Psalms 27:4, NKJV
“One thing I have desired of the LORD,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the LORD
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the LORD,
And to inquire in His temple.”
Luke 10:41-42, NKJV
“And Jesus answered and said to her,
“Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things.
But one thing is needed,
and Mary has chosen that good part,
which will not be taken away from her.””
