Trunk and branches of our thoughts like a tree
What We Think

Random thoughts about thinking.

Think it through, then follow through and do something with what you thought about.

Take ownership of your thoughts and don’t let them go astray. Focus!

Keep weird thinking habits from developing.

My driving time is best spent in silence. That’s when I give my thoughts room to grow. If the open road isn’t available, at least time on my tractor will work.

As a man thinketh in his heart… (Proverbs 23:7) Did you know the Bible tells us that our thoughts are heart based? You use your heart (feelings) to direct your thoughts. Sometimes for the good, and sometimes for the bad. Why? The heart is the seat of our emotions and overrides what we think in our mind.

We’ve struggled with this. I work hard to keep my emotions in check, but they ooze out and destroy my rational and reasoning outlook.

Not all of us are successful with our thinking processes. Too many deal shallowly with life, and, yes, others go too deep.

Maybe our thinking process should be like the tides. Ease on in, stay for a while, and ease on out. Rip tides. Bore tides. Yes. Sometimes they are bountiful. But when it comes to thinking about Godly things, then I’m with Paul…

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” (2 Corinthians 10:3-5, KJV)

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.” (Philippians 4:8-9, KJV)

Where you go with your thoughts, your actions are sure to follow. There’s power in your thinking, so use it wisely.
