Every so often, my website takes a hit.
A mass attack by vandals and thieves.
They try to wear down my defenses.
Hopefully, they think, they will find the chink.
Thus far, they’ve had no success.
But I get the admin emails that tell me they are trying
Some days dozens. Last Sunday, it was hundreds
And my fence has stood against the trial.
We are learning that the enemy.
Of all and everything we hold dear
Lurks around the corner,
Under the floorboards
And peeks through windows and connections.
They are trying to storm the castle
Break down your defense,
And lay waste all your hard work…
Wait! Is this the devil? It could very well be…
As with my blog, similar enemies try to destroy your family,
Kids, Spouse, and even your good name.
But the common thread to all of them is simple
They are liars and cheaters hoping to gain.
Don’t Let Them Win!
Learn to guard your zone.
Don’t take any chances.
Even with innocence, that comes a knocking
You won’t know who you can trust. That’s a shame.
Let me tell you a story, it’s true, and you can trust it.
It happened on the Sunday attack in question
Because the enemy doesn’t try one approach
You may be sure he’s trying to find one that works.
To those kids who stopped by today.
Fundraising, and yes, I believed you.
But you were thirsty, and you had a solution.
We got to know each other, as my Ring will attest.
The thought hit me after I ordered some goodies.
“I wish you could trust the stranger as much as we once did.”
It would have been nice to meet your need
But the fact remains: It’s difficult to find trust for you and for me.
For that, I’m so sorry. It’s a very tough world.
Had it been an emergency? That would have been a better story.
