The Early Bird gets the worm, but what if you did not want one? Then change your moniker. Don’t be a bird, but do know your possibilities when you get into the game earlier than others. It’s sometimes called being on the ground floor as the elevator skyrockets higher than expected. Your earnings are better. You just need to know when to get off before the downward spiral begins.
That’s the key. Maybe. Depends. Do you want to be a winner? Or do you ever care if you lose?
I’m a morning person, but I needed a few extra hours of sleep last night. Why? Maybe you know because I certainly don’t. The stress of a weekend and the relaxing Monday “off day” helped me recover faster than normal. We stayed up much later than I would enjoy, and the lights went out well after midnight.
This morning, I’m not the early bird.
I’ve learned how to let patience take its course when recovering or recouping after a hard day’s work. The older you get, the longer it takes. You learn to pad the next event with a later start time so you can be ready at the gate when the starting pistol sounds.
When I work, I work hard.
When I play, I play hard.
When I sit down? I go to sleep!
The older I get? The slower I go.
In the end, there is no pot of gold. Life is about the journey. The destination is still a long way off. There’s only what comes next. Resting, recouping, recharging, and then getting back into the game. Life. That’s Life. Flying high in April, shot down in May. (Sorry, Frank, I shouldn’t consider your song right now!)
Here’s what I’m learning freshly every day: Every day has its challenges, and other than having experienced it before, we prepare the day before so we can deal with yesterday and consider the lesson learned today.
Romans 15:1-7 MKJV
Then we who are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak,
and not to please ourselves.
Let every one of us please his neighbor for his good,
to building up.
For even Christ did not please Himself;
but as it is written,
“The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me.”
For whatever things were written before
were written for our learning,
so that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures
might have hope.
And may the God of patience and consolation
grant you to be like minded
toward one another according to Christ Jesus,
so that with one mind
and one mouth you may glorify God,
even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore receive one another as Christ also received us,
to the glory of God.
