Before you can know success,
You should probably realize what it doesn’t look like.
How can you define the best
When you have no idea what the worst might be.
During the past week of vacation,
We’ve known some of the best sleep of the winter
The room is cold, say 60 degrees
The bed is perfectly balanced between soft and hard
There is no outside noise
No dogs, coyotes, traffic, or strange unidentified sounds
There is an almost deafening silence
Other than equipment noise from within, there’s nothing else.
This experience gave me a moment of pause
To think this concept through to a completion
Is there a way to know how to have success
The answer, of course, is to know what it doesn’t look like.
Success is personal to every person
To be in the crowd at the end of a contest
Or to be on the podium stacked
Bronze, Silver, oolalah! Gold!
Showing up is often deemed a success.
Especially in these days when shuttered living,
Closed the doors and hid behind a wall,
Their success says others must brave the conditions to serve them.
During the pandemic times,
Things did slow down for a few
But too many still slogged to the job
Production and shipping, stocking and selling, loading for delivery.
After the pandemic and reentering life
Success often meant opening up and testing the waters
Is it safe? Can we return? Should I remain inside?
This brings me to a thought…
Success is not what others say it is
Success is what you say for yourself.
Define by the past, and each day is a success
Improving, growing, becoming, going.
Crowing achievement is meeting your goal.
But success is sticking to the routine
From which the ending can be achieved
Make every pound, dollar, or habit your daily success.
Step by step, keep moving to victory
If you fall back, make an effort to move ahead
If you slip, strive to find firm ground
If you can no longer see, find the vision you need.
An old song of spiritual gain comes to mind.
Victory ahead. Victory ahead. Through the Blood of Jesus, victory ahead.
Know what gives you victory and move with a victor thought
Success is achieved when focused ahead!
Shout it out, and declare to yourself. That’s Me!
