Have you ever lost brain to knee connection and felt like your leg would not work? Maybe your knee is locked up for the briefest of moments?
Yep. It happened to me in the past half hour. You feel like your leg won’t support you. Quick. Grab support lest you fall!
Between where we were and where we planned to land, we were often caught mid-step in a hesitant move. What’s next? Headed the right way? Is it too late to pivot? Am I committed? Oh No!
Call it a knee-jerk reaction, but I found myself thinking about where to land to minimize damage! There were some sharp edges, objects resting in the hallway, tripable things that could make the entire incident less than humorous.
Well, that’s life. That’s what all the people say. Riding high in April. Shot down in May. (Attributed Below)
How often have we tripped through our next step and landed on roses? In the thorns? Or over a cliff from which there is no recovery?
That’s what I’m thinking about this morning.
Recovery
As many of us know, resolutions promised at the first dawn of a new year fall to the wayside barely three weeks into the new year. What do you do? Quit making resolutions? That’s one way of looking at it. Rather, I’m not limiting myself to waiting until next year to start a new path forward. When it’s time, I’ll do it no matter what the calendar says. Only, I change the wording. I now call it a “goal” and have an action plan to support the direction.
If I fail? I pick myself up and get back in the race! That’s life! (Same attribution)
It may take me a few years, but recover, I will. I will not be the same as when I stumbled because when I’m down, I recertify my foundation, learn a new skill, and build my way up to where I should be.
When you fail and learn the recovery process, perhaps the most important aspect is knowing you can make it. Be your own cheerleader! Find affirmation. Build a recovery plan. Take appropriate steps. Know your support system and use it!
Whatever you do, don’t waller in your failure! Get up! Start afresh! Go! Do!
It’s really up to you.
