Words: Why Why Not
Why??? Why Not?!!?

Why do we do what we do? Why not?

This morning, as I was thinking about our reasons for being like we are, I began answering the question of why.

Why? Well, why not?

A name came to mind, and a resulting situation popped into my mind. Before I could stop myself, I classified their reaction to something recently handled as just plain ol’ weird! Then I paused. I considered their history, read into their storyline my own interpretation, and suddenly realized that the results may be stranger than life, but I’m not surprised.

Why? Why not?

Since we all come to any particular moment of life from any number of directions and experiences, it’s not peculiar to think that we are each different. Our history brings us to our conclusion. And sometimes? Strangely different.

We may look the same, but our minds work from different platforms. It’s almost as if some of us are branded differently, i.e., Windows, Chrome, Mac, or Unix. Our corporate story may have started in the same time window, but we are as different as Ford is from General Motors or Chrysler Dodge.

You must remember each of us is a collection of our respective genealogical and historical beginnings.

Our language may sound somewhat similar, but some have that east coast, southern, mid-west, or west coast slang. (I’m sorry, I know I forgot a few zones!) And we know how to thicken the slang when we need to!

We are each unique. Is that okay? Perhaps. Even when we want a good ending, we each see our own version of “good” as the right way. Others? Well, not so much.

As I Age

As I get closer to that magic year of turning 70, it’s as if I see others with clarity.

This got me thinking about prior generations. We use the term that they “would be turning over in their graves” if they could see how we are today. (That’s a weirdly used description, right?!)

It’s not my job to second-guess their reactions. We’ve taken a long time to get to where we are, and they took a long time to get to their experiences. Our stance is replete with guesses of how they would react if they were here today. But them? They get to roll over in their graves.

What I think of as weird, this current generation is growing up with it becoming their new normal. They are okay with it. I’m not. They will accept it. I won’t. Their day will come when they will be in my shoes, and I’m guessing they will have the same attitude about future generations as every ancient generation has experienced.

What Do I DO?

For over 13 years, I’ve been writing this blog, and its predecessor was on a free platform. Now I pay for the privilege of having my own domain, and though inexpensive, I’ve realized it will not always be left in this format. When I’m gone, it will disappear.

What do I do now??

I’m closer to that book being a complete idea than I ever thought.
My words, thoughts, and ideas will compete for electronic and physical space
in a world increasingly crowded with the presented words
and ideas of writers, authors, and thinkers.

What do I do? I publish.

This blog will always be my thinking and writing platform, but before my time slot in life has run its course, I want to create something a bit more permanent. I’ve tested my mind and craft, so it’s time to produce. Produce, I will! It’s doable. So let’s make it done!

Why? Well, why not?!!?
