It’s been a strange thinking process this week of noting those among us who are faithful to their talents, tasks, consistency, and steadfastness. Without wavering, slipping, or sliding, they are spot on in doing their calling without question ever.
Who can say this about themselves?
Most men will proclaim each his own goodness,
But who can find a faithful man?
(Proverbs 20:6 NKJV)
The Bible tells us many are considered faithful, but how about the remaining millions never mentioned in scripture? Were they faithful? Prayerfully they were led and strengthened by a single individual’s faith, but to dig deep into their lives? Were they faithful? Or merely obedient?
It’s easy to look up the faithful; maybe you will remember their names and history. You would do well to study their pattern of faithfulness so you can find your own walk forward.
Moses: | Then He said, “Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD, make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream. Not so with My servant Moses; He is faithful in all My house. I speak with him face to face, Even plainly, and not in dark sayings; And he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant Moses?” (Numbers 12:6-8 NKJV) |
Samuel: | Then I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who shall do according to what is in My heart and in My mind. I will build him a sure house, and he shall walk before My anointed forever. (1 Samuel 2:35 NKJV) |
David: | So Ahimelech answered the king and said, “And who among all your servants is as faithful as David, who is the king’s son-in-law, who goes at your bidding, and is honorable in your house? (1 Samuel 22:14 NKJV) |
God: | But as God is faithful, our word to you was not Yes and No. (2 Corinthians 1:18 NKJV) |
If God is our primary example, then for him to call Moses or Samuel faithful, or for others to recognize the faithfulness after God’s chosen (David) must mean we have found an example of a faithful person. Were they perfect? No! No one is! But as with David, they knew how to make things right when they were found to be wrong.
That’s Faithfulness!
This week, as we move into Winter and the last days of 2022, I’m thinking about faithfulness. Why? We’ve seen what the recent past has done to us, and our faithfulness has been tested like no other time. This testing is not done yet. If we could see what 2023 will produce with a telescope, we would be wise to frame, shore up, and build our faithfulness now.
Faithfulness is more than what we do on our holy worship day, and it’s who we are as we lay our heads down on that pillow of rest. It’s the compilation of everything we say we are and all that we will do when we arise on the morrow.
Faithfulness is consistency and obedience.
There is no time like the present to make our faithfulness known to God and to each other.
Why? He’s been faithful to me.
Who Is Faithful? We've seen what the recent past has done to us, and our faithfulness has been tested like no other time. This testing is not done yet. If we could see what 2023 will produce with a telescope, we would be wise to frame,… Share on X
