Bush and sign that reads "a finishing place"
A Finishing Place

(I’m not a poet, but I see lines of words that flow.
Some call it dyslectic writing. I simply call it prose.)

From nothing, something.
With nothing, everything.
We have all we need
When we recognize it in front of us,
What? Yes! That’s all we need.

The night, though long.
Sleep failed to come. Dogs howled.
But rest must be had, but how?
Only when we consider the worse
There is a place where there’s nothing.

The morning? Arrived. Ready? Not so much.
The Schedule is packed and full.
With light in the yard, snow on the ground
Nothing holds me back. It’s time to be busy.
Last night? A finishing place.

Is everything perfect? No.
Could it be better? Sure.
But where I am is where I will be.
Don’t wish for something better without realizing,
This truth, you have all you need.

How long till death? Who knows.
There’s no end in sight. Plan? 30+ more years.
Can you do it? I’m trying.
Nothing slows me down except age.
And a world full of surprises.

But for the moment, I feel, a finishing place has arrived
Can you feel it? I know I do.
There’s so much to accomplish, and maybe left undone
But God knows I’m willing to try,
And slow down, not one iota.

This special space is not the end
It’s the recognition of something we know
A badge earned, the reward given, but more?
Pat me on the back. There’s so much more to do
Finish your start with a brand new task.

Look over your shoulder.
So much you’ve done
Scan forward
More is yet to be accomplished.
Recognize the Moment, Look at your success
They are many, if you will but consider
Each step has become A finishing place
Look! That step is done!
