I love bad weather. Pelting rain, winds, thunder, lightning, snow, ice, and big storms! As a kid, we would ride the trees in the wind rocking back and forth. The only rule? Come in as soon as there’s thunder and lightning. Otherwise, we rode those high branches as the wind whipped us through the skies.
In my time, I’ve lived through Hurricanes and had a Twister pop down within a mile of my house. There have been times a storm paused in the Gulf and we received nearly 30 inches of rain in a 24-hour period. I went to work at low tide and came home at the next low tide. In Alaska, once, we got nearly 4-feet of snow in a 24-hour period and I had to blow the snow off the drive every three hours to stay ahead of the white-out!
Of course, too many storms can be a pain!
Take note, just because life has seemed like a wilderness bereft of normality, it doesn’t mean we are in a storm.
It feels like we’ve been in a wilderness lately.
For some, a wilderness is a harsh place with no hope.
For others, it’s a scary place fraught with constant danger.
Still, on another level, a wilderness is a place of renewal.
God has a plan for your wilderness!
It’s what I’m teaching about tonight.
I first heard of Cynthia Clawson a dozen years or so back. Who knows, it may be as far back as my Alaska time of history when she showed up on a Gaither’s Friends production. Most recently, the same performance showed on Gaither’s playlist, Singing in the Rain. The message and lyrical sounds are still a favorite today. This new playlist has songs that are new and old, but all have the message that even when the storms of life come we can still sing in the rain!
I thought you needed to hear this right now.
