Lady Justice
Lady Justice, As Old As The Hills

We’ve been going through some heartaches, and like millions of others, we wonder if anyone cares? With all the crimes and sufferings in the world, is it even possible to get justice? Does anyone care? Well. We care. You care. I care. But what about those who can enact justice?

Supposedly someone speaks for the innocent? Lady Justice? Do you hear? You have a blindfold, scales for justice, and a sword to deal with the guilty. Hey! What about Lady Liberty? Don’t we get a voice?

Maybe our case isn’t strong enough, our voices not as loud as others, nor are we after the harshest of penalties. We only want to be heard.

But it seems those in positions to heed our need care little. What was that phrase so famous in recent years? Kick the can down the road. That showed up everywhere if my memory is clear. Someone I know in the ’80s deals with many situations similarly. Shrug the shoulder and the words, “Let’s let it perc for a while.” Don’t handle it now. Kick it down the road, and maybe we’ll never have to deal with it again! Perhaps it will resolve itself.

What’s needed? New tactics? Perhaps. More potent and louder voices? It probably wouldn’t hurt. March? Protest? Chant? Signs?

Anything works, right? One problem is that we don’t want to carry the plea so far that someone else does something equally idiotic.

I know we have a more excellent voice in heaven than we do on this earth.

Repeatedly, we find David as one of our most significant examples of pleading his case before God. This one time keeps coming back to me as I pray.

Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him,
because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters.
But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.
1 Samuel 30:6 NKJV

Was David in the wrong? Perhaps. He was the leader, and leaders all take the ultimate responsibility for the bad times and the rewards for the good times. The key is that he took care of his own needs! One translation says, “David drew strength from the Lord. (NET)” You certainly don’t have the personal strength to handle the entire load. Everyone is suffering, and you’re in the pot with them. So. Take control of yourself. Find your strength and comfort from The Lord. Do it first, and you’ll find strength for every battle.

That works for me!

Who Will Hear My Plea? You certainly don't have the personal strength to handle the entire load. Everyone is suffering, and you're in the pot with them. So. Take control of yourself. Find your strength and comfort from The Lord. Do it… Share on X
