Bad News, Alvalanche
Where's the school?

Amid a streak of good news and feeling confident about the future, bad news always brings a worrisome thought. Is good luck about to end? Can we win over negative news? Will it be okay in the end?

It’s like a scratch in an old extended play, and the groove keeps on repeating itself. The sounds coming from the speakers are rich. Good. Then, scritch. Repeat.

When we face either news, good or bad, which side wins? Heads. Tails. Up. Down. Winning. Losing. Can we survive the negative in the midst of the good? I try to be positive, but even I feel the skip of the moment. Hesitation. Disquieting. I am digesting the words. What do we do?

The reality depends on you. How do you handle either news? Some are giddy at the good and baffled by the bad. Should we not have a balanced approach? It would be nice. But sometimes quicksand is not easily won with a tug on a rope from safe ground. Slow down. Think it through. Don’t overreact. There’s time to handle the negative.

In the yearning for snow to enjoy, the fear of an avalanche is real. Are you ready for baaaaddd news? You better be!

Here’s My Thought Today

Daily News at its best, and how should we handle the struggles of bad news? The Apostle Paul gives us focus on how we should face each moment.

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,
that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed;
we are perplexed, but not in despair;
Persecuted, but not forsaken;
cast down, but not destroyed;
Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus,
that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
(2 Corinthians 4:7-10 KJV)

Bottom line? Even when we feel overwhelmed, Keep your focus! You are a child of the Most High God. There’s no such thing as bad news that He cannot help you through. When the word and situation appear to be worrisome, find comfort that there is a solution.

To the chief Musician upon Neginah, A Psalm of David.
Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee,
when my heart is overwhelmed:
lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For thou hast been a shelter for me,
and a strong tower from the enemy.
(Psalms 61:1-3 KJV)

Step Up. Step Forward. Give it to Him. Be led. Don’t try to figure it out on your own! Move on!
