Jesus...It's not just talk
Jesus - It's not just talk

It’s not about the “talk of the town” or the latest news you can use. The Word of God should be how we talk and live. Everywhere we go and all the time. Let’s not just talk about the Word. Let’s become the Word. If Paul can become all things for all so that by any measure he may reach some, then you and I need to make sure our light is shining so we can minister to all people. All the time. Everywhere.

Don’t preach it unless, first, you live it.

Long before you heard it preached, Jesus said it (Luke 4:4, Matthew 4:4), and before the Gospels, we find in that long ago written Law of God.

And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
(Deuteronomy 8:3 KJV)

Before Jesus quoted it, Israel lived it! Israel was allowed to be hungry and then fed by God to learn the lesson. Live what you receive!

Please don’t talk to me with words unless you are living what you say.
I don’t want to hear words from you unless it is evidenced by how you live.
Preach the word, and if necessary, use your voice.
That’s not just talking! It’s living it!

Side Note

Psalms 119, the longest chapter in the Bible, is divided by the 22 Hebrew letters of the alphabet. Each segment is approximately eight verses in length. It’s is all about the Word of God and living it in all the ways the writer describes. Thirty-five times, the KJV defines a phrase, “Thy Word…” and then applies God’s Word to his own life.

What if we changed the way we thought about the Word of God and personalized it. That would probably require us to change how we choose to respond. Right?!!? It’s not just reading or talking. It’s living the Word! Here are just two of my favorite verses in Psalms 119.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
(Psalms 119:11 KJV)

NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
(Psalms 119:105 KJV)

Go ahead. See what you can find for yourself. Live It!
