2020 - Globally, Who Knew?
2020? Who Knew?

We’re past the half-way point of 2020, the year of perfect vision. Or, at least that’s how we played it back in January. Along the way we’ve faced surprise, heartache and many struggles. For me, it’s more than any other year of my 65 trips around the sun… Who Knew?

We’re halfway through the year, 2020, who knew that you would be so trying?

Maybe this is similar to the early 20th Century. Wars. Spanish Flu. Great Depression. More wars. Who Knew?

Regardless of all our analysis, it appears we are facing devastating times on so many fronts. We are not sure what to do to repair or recover. Who Knew?

With an epidemic that was allowed to become a pandemic, how many are suffering unfairly due to the rules of protection and safety? Who knows? Corporations bottoming out and fading off the scene, and few are swooping in to pick up the pieces because of the uncertainty of tomorrow. Lenders are scrambling to keep their financial picture on stable footing, because many are without work or income.

Our lives built up around a certain set of expectations, but now, who knew it would end up like this? What’s next? IDK… I Don’t Know!

Here’s My Thought Today

You can look through any historical book of any nation or religion, and you will find doom painted across the future landscape. In the synoptic Gospels, Jesus speaks of watching for the signs of the ending. John writes his book on the Revelation of Jesus Christ and we get a gloomy picture. Paul speaks in his writings a number of times and forewarns of impending calamity.

Could it be we are facing a major ending of it all? Again. Who knows? I certainly don’t.

But what I do sense in this time is a safety net of spiritual proportions that keep me from losing my walk with God or my hope. The earth has groaned through many negatives through the Millenium and this could be it’s simply a season we are learning to face better prepared.

I’m not sure, but I do keep my foundation in Christ strong! My view is one of action, and not storing up a war chest against the apocalypse, rather, it’s one of affirming my walk with Christ based on sound doctrine. Throughout the Word we find action words, verbs, that tell us what we should be doing when times are good, so we are prepared when times are bad!

In another vein of thinking, one financial guru says it like this:

Live like no one else now, you can live like no one else then. ~Dave Ramsey

That being said, I’ve started digging out certain action words from Scripture to live today, so I can live like no one else then…

Try These On For Size

Now, if you know me for very long, then you know the scripture that speaks loudly into my spirit…

Thimk and Do (Click to Read my thought on Thimk!)

I love coming up with lists. This is simply part of a large view of scripture, but who knows, they may be what you needed to hear today.

  • Come, follow me… Matthew 11:28
  • Wait upon the Lord … Isaiah 40:13
  • GoMakeBaptizing – Matthew 28:19
  • Resist the Devil… James 4:7
  • Work out Salvation… Philippians 2:12
  • Choose you this day… Deuteronomy 30:19, Joshua 24:15
  • Watch and Pray … Mark 13:33
  • Adorn yourself with Modesty … 1 Timothy 2:9-10
  • Teach… 2 Timothy 1:5
  • Submit… 1 Peter 5:5
  • Rejoice… Philippians 4:4
  • Gird up…Be Sober (1 Peter 1:13)

The Holy Word of God is full of many such scriptures, and these only scratch the surface, but why not build your list. Add to it often. Review it daily. It will help you keep your soul pointed in the right direction!
