Today, I simply want to remember that we should live the Good News… Not politicians, nor entertainers, or even those who deem themselves popular. Rather, I want to live the Good News of Jesus Christ.
We step up, and step in,
And then step all the way through
From our limited perspective
To a greater view than we ever thought possible.
Life here is but a temporary stopover
For we are spiritual beings with a future
That we cannot even begin to comprehend
Nor, can we envision the options.
To choose the better path,
That’s my call, my vision, my mission
Not just for the mile that I walk
But also for that extra mile I’m asked about.
Life is not lonely, when you surround yourself
With others on the same path, together
Life is lived with focus, when you know the path
Is not uncertain, nor treacherous.
Choose your path mates but do not ignore
Those who are searching
Feeling like they are lost and alone
Team up, Team In, Team Through!
What Is Good News?
The word Gospel essentially means “Good News”. It’s not my good news, but rather the one who came to be the redeemer of the lost. Jesus came to steer us a better way. His way is the only way to the reward he teaches about. There is no other way.
So… Let’s see what happens when someone who should know asks if he is “the one…”
“After Jesus finished giving his twelve disciples these instructions, he moved on from there to teach his message in their cities. When John was in prison, he heard about the things Christ had done. So he sent his disciples to ask Jesus, “Are you the one who is coming, or should we look for someone else?” Jesus answered John’s disciples, “Go back, and tell John what you hear and see: Blind people see again, lame people are walking, those with skin diseases are made clean, deaf people hear again, dead people are brought back to life, and poor people hear the Good News. Whoever doesn’t lose his faith in me is indeed blessed.””
Matthew 11:1-6 (GW)
This is the same John who baptized Jesus, saw the Spirit descending from him as a dove, and heard a voice saying…
“Then a voice from heaven said,
“This is my Son, whom I love-my Son with whom I am pleased.””
Matthew 3:17 (GW)
Even John, the forerunner of Christ who had a role to play in preparing the way… John needed some reassurance. Are you the one…or do we look for another? “John, here’s what we saw and heard…Blind people see again, lame people are walking, those with skin diseases are made clean, deaf people hear again, dead people are brought back to life, and poor people hear the Good News.”
The Good News Lived
The Good News is not just a message heard in some church and on a platform. Rather, it’s that life of the Good News we live every day. People everywhere need to see us live it, and hear our voice speak it. Yet, it’s also that life that is full power
The Apostle Paul shows us the way!
“Brothers and sisters, when I came to you, I didn’t speak about God’s mystery as if it were some kind of brilliant message or wisdom. While I was with you, I decided to deal with only one subject-Jesus Christ, who was crucified. When I came to you, I was weak.
I was afraid and very nervous… didn’t speak my message with persuasive intellectual arguments… I spoke my message with a show of spiritual power so that your faith would not be based on human wisdom but on God’s power.”
1 Corinthians 2:1-5 (GW)
This is what others are looking for. Not just your message, or life style, but the “show of spiritual power”. Not to be a show-off, rather, to prove the power of God’s Spirit that lives within.
The Word, A Crown of Thorns, and a Light shining through. That’s the Gospel Message. It’s the life given to us live. Share on X
