It’s been a whirlwind the past few days. From wrapping up repairs at the house due to aging equipment and failure, to staying in touch with family as dad slowly slips from this life.
Weather systems made everything tenuous. Snow. Rain. Ice. Strong winds! Electrify struggling to stay on.
The stress of home dealt with the heating system, and though relatively new, the thermostat was not working. So. Replaced. Slowly, to make sure I don’t make mistakes and then test it out to ensure it works while I’m gone.
Equally, a new pressure tank for my water system failed, and the new one had a default which ended up with an inch+ water flowing out the garage door and spewing walls and keepsakes. It took 5 days to dehumidify, heat and blow dry everything. The equipment’s gone, but the remainder of tasks will wait until I return.
Then, dad’s condition has steadily digressed until it’s truly only a matter of days, if not hours. Hence, the repeat trip to Texas.
As I wait to board, I got to thinking about all the pauses we have in life that lead to something we are not ready to face. How about you? What do you think during your pauses? Share on XHere’s My Thought Today
A favorite author (Bruce Feiler) is coming out with a new book title, “Life is in the Transitions”. His tweet yesterday describes his approach to life like this:
William James said it best a century ago: Life is in the transitions. If I’ve learned one thing from this experience, it’s that together, we can do them better. #lifeisinthetransitions
Notice his comment. Together we can do them better.
From another favorite author and speaker (Michael Hyatt), I received a message this morning, and these two are speaking in concert to my soul.
So. For all those who have walked with me as life changes and challenges us on every front… Thank you. You’ve been there when I needed you, and even when I did not know.
To my friend, Charles, who called me out of the blue yesterday, thank you. Frank?!! Thanks! Jack! Ditto. Bobby, Anthony, and a host of others who are close to me. Thanks.
To those silent people who come alongside and just lend spiritual strength and support. Thanks.
I hope during your needs I was there equally for you.
Apostle Paul
There are many in scripture who gave thanks for the assistance they received. His final letter to Timothy says it like this:
Hurry to visit me soon.
10 Demas has abandoned me. He fell in love with this present world and went to the city of Thessalonica. Crescens went to the province of Galatia, and Titus went to the province of Dalmatia.
11 Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you. He is useful to me in my work.
12 I’m sending Tychicus to the city of Ephesus as my representative.
13 When you come, bring the warm coat I left with Carpus in the city of Troas. Also bring the scrolls and especially the parchments.
14 Alexander the metalworker did me a great deal of harm. The Lord will pay him back for what he did. 15 Watch out for him. He violently opposed what we said. 16 At my first hearing no one stood up in my defense. Everyone abandoned me. I pray that it won’t be held against them.
17 However, the Lord stood by me and gave me strength so that I could finish spreading the Good News for all the nations to hear. I was snatched out of a lion’s mouth. 18 The Lord will rescue me from all harm and will take me safely to his heavenly kingdom. Glory belongs to him forever! Amen.
2 Timothy 4:9-18 (GW)
Final thought? Don’t forget to thank God for being there with you, and for you!
