If we ever become what we think we should be or know is possible, I think we need to focus. Thoughts, actions, planning, and execution. These are Keywords that keep us focused to achieve our goals.
But the problem is that we have too many keywords to focus on, and we easily get lost in the scramble to make sense of the moment.
Recently, on a mostly silent 2-hour drive, I let my mind float through the day and the plan for the week. Questions and thoughts rattled through the thinking part of my brain.
What does not get done because I’ve chosen a different path?
Will something be awaiting my return I need to consider? Probably.
What greater return will I have for the change of focus today? Calculate the odds…Time will tell.
What is Your Focus?
Can you pause in your day and evaluate your focus? Plans? Accomplishments? Necessary things? What are your keywords?
Mission. Vision. Objectives. Goals.
Planning. Plan. Strategic. Intentional. Purposed. Targeted. Focus.
Plan away! These keywords are all important! But like a jumbled mess of keys in a drawer, you must scramble through them to find the right key for the right moment!
The problem? It’s difficult to laser focus our thinking process when there is too much on our plate.
Narrow your options to accomplish the things you know are doable and put those things that can wait on the back burner. It may require brutal actions to pick and choose, but it will have great rewards if you do your job correctly!
Quiet Time Pondering
For my quiet time this morning, I thought about the who’s, what’s, why’s, when’s, where’s, and that nasty big one… How???
Perhaps this is the biggest question.
How do I move from here to there? Is it possible to get us from where we are to where we need to be? Can I do it? Who do I need to help me?
That’s where quiet time produces focus, and the Keywords just prevail.
But knowing the appropriate keyword is nice, but doing something with it is most important. Yes… I’ve written about it from a scriptural perspective. Just click here===>>> (Thimk And Do)
Here’s My Thought Today
Jesus was always looking for quiet time. It mostly came while everyone was asleep or resting. Scripture says he was “praying,” and while I do not doubt this, I also know the pressure of constant attention draws down our energy. Perhaps his fresh keyword thought, and focus occurred after the quiet time. Maybe preparing for what we do not know is in front of us gives us the focus we need for that moment.
What do you do in your quiet time? For me, it’s mostly letting my subconscious do the heavy lifting. What I cannot figure out in my active thinking processes, the background seems to know what to do next. Only, I need to get the subconscious thought into my active thought process!
Now it came to pass in those days
that He went out to the mountain to pray,
and continued all night in prayer to God.
Luke 6:12 NKJV
If you read what happened before and after this verse, you will see that Jesus focused on needs. The leaders were “filled with madness” when he healed a withered limb. Why? They did not know what to do about Jesus!
Afterward, perhaps with this latest news, the masses came out to hear him, straining to touch him. Why? As Luke says about the touching, it… “…healed them all!” (v19)
Nestled between these two events, we find Jesus prayed all night long!
Could it be that after doing something and going to our next step, we must pull out of the race of “now” and spend some quiet time in prayer?
What’s so important about prayer?
One of my personal insights is this: Prayer helps me find the keywords for focusing on the next big challenge. Prayer restores the mind, body, soul, and spirit from what the previous event took from me.
Catch this thought! Prayer helps me lay aside distractions and find focus and clarity!
Secret Sauce
Could it be that before we get anything important done, we must pull out of the race of what’s happening and spend some quiet time in prayer? Now, the right keywords will come! Share on X
Have you ever tasted something so good and asked, “What’s the secret?” A burger is a burger until someone finds a way to spice it up to make it the best “B-U-R-G-E-R” you’ve ever tasted!
Generally, there’s a secret known only to the chef. Research a little deeper, and you can find it out for yourself.
The secret sauce for R&R and Your Next Big Focus is simply prayer.
For the analgesic effect on the body, endorphins are secreted and react with the brain to provide release from stressors. Can I suggest that prayer is the endorphin for the body, soul, and spirit? After a season of prayer, I feel the sweet release of the moment and understand even better… God is in control. I’m his vessel. He puts nothing on me greater than I can bear. His love is eternal. I’m blessed!
I am blessed to know I can pull apart, be restored,
and stand up to the fresh challenge ahead of me.
Prayer gives me the right Keyword to Focus on. It’s right in my hand, floating through my mind, and establishing the next steps of the near time in front of me.
