Headed Home:

Last year, most of our vacation trips were connected to going to Texas for family needs. Not quite the way we would normally choose our “vaccination” time, but sometimes life requires things out of you that you would just as soon not have to deal with.

This year, we opted for a retreat to the mountains where it was cool, a little snowy, and far enough away from home to make it fun!

As I’ve recently stated, some folks vacation “to do” but we focus more on the escape and downtime. Some want to get there quickly, and return as late as possible… Not that there’s anything wrong with a quick trip, but for the most part we find the trip as important as the destination! A long drive is relaxing! So much to see, and generally longer out of cell coverage…uh oh, the secret is out…

Today, we started the drive homeward.

It’s easily done in a long 12 hour day, but we chose to break it up and enjoy some extra time together. A few more restful hours of downtime. And that’s important!

As we hit the road, a quick snapshot in the rear view mirror tells a tale. Great retreat, and a great place to visit again. But you don’t live in the past. Life always moves forward, by facing forward.

The road ahead may have challenges, but what we’ve faced only prepares us! Share on X

And preparation comes from intentional living, as well as troubled living. The rain falls on the just, and the unjust. (Matthew 5:45) “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.“ (Galatians 6:9)

Know your limits, but work hard on stretching your endurance. Keep your mind and gears turning, and your direction intentionally focused on moving forward. But definitely know when it’s time to retreat, recoup, recover and renew. It’s more important than you can imagine!
