Give Us This Day…
Our Daily Bread… This day… Day by day. (Matthew 6:11, Luke 11:3) Only just what I need, and not necessarily not what I want. The burgeoning church in Acts continued daily with one accord in the temple, and break bread from house to house. They partook of their nourishment with gladness and singleness of heart. All the while, praising God. (Acts 2:46-47)
Some want to save up their blessings from a single day, and parcel it out over a period of time. Yet, everything I read about God’s manna was that there was a daily portion provided and it was just enough for the day. The only time they stored extra was in preparation for the Sabbath when they could do no work, and that included the garnering of sustenance.
In that early sojourn of wilderness living, God provided just what each person needed. Take too little and you would starve. Take too much (hoard) and worms invaded it. (Exodus 16:16-21)
Just enough for what was needed. Just what was needed. That, and no more. Don’t get enough and you will starve…
The day has started… What has been your daily portion? If you glean properly it will be just what you need for what the day requires. Trust me. It works. Day by day.
