Made in His image, as scripture states (Genesis 1:27), from the very beginning. Conformed to His image (Romans 8:29). We are fearfully and wonderfully made.
For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! (Psalms 139:13-17 NKJV)
Why do we struggle with understanding how God created us in His image. Each of us as unique from the other as a man is from a woman. Each with purpose, and reason for existence, although we may have polluted the pathway to glorify God. But that is why we were made… To worship and glorify our creator!
Chatting with a friend from Texas this morning whose body has been fighting off the attack of cancer, we touched on the marvelous mechanism of the body to be in perfect sync, all the parts working together, and then rallying against the forces that destroy. Some of the side affects are horrific as the body struggles, but in the midst of it all, we continue to trust in God, who made all heavens and all earth (Genesis 1:1), and each one of us. You and I.
We are incredibly functioning works of God’s creation!
Cherish what you are and what your body can do. Keep it healthy and safe. Make it available to the King of all for His calling in you… Nourish and cherish relationships, just as he loved us enough to come just for you! (John 3:16).
That’s the new years rallying cry.
