Sunrise, Sunset

Time passes like water flowing under the bridge, while we stand idly watching the ripples, and contemplating absolutely nothing at all. But around the world, it may not be the same. Somewhere someone is doing something, good or not so good, at the same time you think about zilch.

I woke early this morning, not feeling patient for the day to get started. Probably due to a restless night. The list of things to accomplish is long, and my hope is to get a jump on the tasks before daylight shows over Mt Rainier.

Every day is a memory for something or someone. Every day is replete with good things and bad. Every single moment of every single day represents some big event in our past – and we do not even realize it. We just move on, not at all thankful for the history of things.

Before the day gets away from you, what will you wish you had started earlier? I’m not into spending time just because it sits there like a bank with a ticking clock. However, I want to be productive with the time available so I can someday stand on a bridge and casually watch the river flow beneath my feet.

Someone made a comment about the special time they have with their kids and they sure don’t want to miss out on anything before it’s too late. Made me think of a song from Fiddler on the Roof

Sunrise, Sunset

Is this the little girl I carried?
Is this the little boy at play?
I don’t remember growing older,
When did they?

When did she get to be a beauty?
When did he grow to be so tall?
Wasn’t it yesterday when they were small?

Sunrise sunset, sunrise, sunset,
Swiftly flow the days,
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers,
Blossoming even as they gaze…

Sunrise sunset, sunrise, sunset!
Swiftly fly the years,
One season following another,
Laden with happiness and tears…

One season following another,
Laden with happiness and tears…
