The Older I Get:

The older I get, I find,
More important is the moment,
And more importantly,
The extraction of all the flavors of the moment,
To savor, remember, and enjoy later on.

The older I get, I know,
Are the importance of my memories,
The more needful of my abilities,
To savor, recall, and share. Why?
Once you’re gone, so too are your memories.

The older I get, I learn,
The aches, pains, and sorrows of the day,
Weigh heavily on enjoying the moment.
Still, the older I get, I uncover,
More joy in sitting and sharing, instead of doing.

The older I get, I forget,
True memories will be shared too often,
Repeated, recited, and rehashed, again.
Forgive the mind of the aged,
It’s important to share. Have I said that already?

The older I get, I discover,
There are far fewer old friends around.
They leave and are gone, way too soon.
The older I get, the truth is revealed,
Make friends while you are young before you learn,
There is no one to enjoy the same path with.

The older I get…

This Morning

I woke this morning wishing for just one more moment to think about the opportunity to visit a teacher who passed earlier this week. Time and again I found her through my searches and planned to include her on my next trip, but time and pressing needs of the moment kept me from completing my actions.

With all the negative happening in the world, a friend shared these few words to help you consider the moment.

Never rush a hug.
Never say goodbye without saying I love you.
Learn what you can in the bad times.
Never leave kindness unsaid.
Think good things. Say good things.

Fill your heart with the words you’d speak
if tonight were truly the night you would die.
And then don’t leave them unspoken.

Don’t be overwhelmed with anger.
It eats time. It robs your life.
Overwhelm anger with love.
Stuff life full, but not with stuff.

~Greg Woodruff

Savor the time. Use it up, wisely. Keep the memories sharp for savoring another day. Live positive. Shun negative. Live hopeful. Shun anger. Life is too short to burn opposite ends of the candle at the same time. Live a better life. The best life. Say better words. The best words.
