Some call it the sacred weekend…R&R Time…

I think Saturday is meant to be spent on “me” and “my family”… Not to say we cannot spend other days invested on “us” but with a busy Monday-Friday schedule, and with Sunday being busy, a single down day is least of what I need to recover.

So. We work hard on preserving our schedule for this day. Seldom do we plan anything that revolves around our other important duties of life. I need down time!

Okay… There are a few Saturday’s during the year that require my attention related for the other important responsibilities of life, but this one day a week, maybe 4 a month…C’mon! Give me a break… I need some downtime!

2017-01-28-10-17-59What do  yo do  on your down days? Prepare for the family, of course. A little Emma-time today will wear me out and yet it will be so sad when she goes back home this evening. I cannot imagine what my grandmother used to feel like when all 9 grand-kids showed up at the same time! In this picture it’s just the 4 of us. I do not remember the picture, but I remember the place pretty well. Not sure my siblings do, but I thank my sister for this coffee cup memento a few years ago!

I do not believe we should be workaholics. On a radio news show yesterday I heard that President Trump sleeps 4 hours a night, he never takes vacations, and is known to work as late as midnight, and as early as 4am… Going all day. Most of the night.

If this defines “success” then I will never be successful.

The psalmist seemed to understand the concept of rest.

So I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest. Indeed, I would wander far off, And remain in the wilderness. Selah I would hasten my escape From the windy storm and tempest.” (Psalms 55:6-8 NKJV)

Selah… Think about it… I would hasten my escape…yes, from the storms, but he yearned for the wings of a dove (peace) so that he could fly away and rest…a far off.
