It’s not often I sleep more than 5 or even 6 hours.

But last night was not one of them.  8 hours! Wow!

These past few days loaded my schedule down, – all the exciting and mundane duties of life, well, the hours of required rest melted away.

Recouping, refreshing, and revitalizing body, soul and spirit requires rest.  Sometimes that means sleep. Other times it is simply quiet time.

Being an introvert, you more easily tire when in a crowd. Yes, even crowds of people you love! Though there is something draining about the numbers, there is also a tiring that comes from even a couple of folks.

Sometimes you put more of yourself into the situation than you have to give!

Even Jesus and his disciples experienced this. Imagine the effort of catering to 5,000 unexpected guests! His miracle and their hard work of delivering the respite simply drained them!

  • And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. (Mark 6:31)

No leisure.  Perhaps that’s the key! Leisure time while in the crowd.  Last night, I’m not even sure I finished my plate of food!

Well, a good ham sandwich in the quiet of my home, and some down time before turning the lights out. Then sleep town, here I come! 8 whole hours!
